The Walla Walla Fire District #8 will host a free community presentation on the subject of wildfire awareness. The presentation will include information on the November 2018 California wildfires, with firsthand pictures and accounts from local agencies, part of Washington State Task Force 2 that responded last year. The presentation will also cover Walla Walla County emergency management programs, including: Alerts, Evacuations, Notifications, Ready Bags, Safety Zones, and Shelter in Place. Finally, the presentation will discuss what assistance property owners can provide during a fire incident.
The presentation will be led by fourth-generation Walla Walla native Bob Clendaniel, Fire Chief of the Walla Walla County Fire District #8. Clendaniel retired as Deputy Sheriff/Sergeant for 30 years with the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office and has 39 years of volunteer/full-time fire service. He has also served as Incident Commander, Division Supervisor, Officer, and/or Firefighter on hundreds of fires in the region.
